"I have spent a lot of time dreaming about what it's going to feel like to be in love. As a teenager, the more my husband-and-father obsession grew, the more I became fascinated with the idea of love. In junior high, I was intrigued with the songs on the radio. Shalamar's "For the Lover in You," Switch's "I Call Your Name." I wanted to experience that kind of passion.

I began to ask older adults, usually women, around the neighborhood, teachers I'd grown close to, and members to my family. Looking for answers. I had a little battery of questions mentally prepared.

"When was the first time you fell in love? How did you know? What did it feel like?" Questions I asked through high school and my undergraduate years at Berkeley." Raising Fences: A Black Man's Love Story ~ Michael Datcher

After I finished reading Zane's "The Heat Seekers," I started reading a memoir by Michael Datcher entitled "Raising Fences: A Black Man's Love Story." I started the book yesterday afternoon at work and I haven't been able to put it down. ((Sidenote: Lloyd | I totally forgot that JEH's "Love the One Your With," came out yesterday ... I'll be picking it up on my lunchbreak -- So be prepare for my IM's once I get ahold of the book.))

I went out on a date last night ... Yes, you've read right ... a date. I was going to come up with some type of excuse as to why I couldn't attend, but I didn't. I wanted to have company outside of my apartment. To be honest with you ... I enjoyed myself. I'll sit back and see where it goes from here ... 'cause like Jaguar Wright sings "Same Shit, Different Day."

I was able to help a friend out with the naming of her dog -- The name you ask? Darius Lovehall ... Daana wanted to stick with names that started with a "D," and Darius Lovehall seemed perfect!

I'm smiling as I type this entry ...

Alright ... I'm Gone
