It’s funny how you think you have everything together and then you start to realize that everything is not what it always seems. I think I’ve been chasing an dream idea that I want to happen as soon as possible. Last night proved that sometimes in life you gotta make the best of a situation and take it from there. I believe I’m walking a fine line between trying to find the perfect mate and trying to be the perfect person for the right mate. So many times I find myself saying, “I can’t wait on Mr. Right – I gotta become Mr. Right,” having no idea on where to begin or end on such a huge request for anyone to complete. I’ve probably missed out on several things because of this … Passing up what could’ve been due to things like: What about now. There’s times where I make the past the present unable to leave the past in the past … and try living for today. I’ve come across some really nice and genuine people in this world and I’ve bypassed them because of simple things. Things that really shouldn’t matter but make a world of difference when it comes to me and my needs.

Last night while driving home from The After Party I was forced to realized that it actually is going to be alright no matter the situation. To much I place too much emphasize on what I don’t have and the things I do have in order to substitute for things that I’m lacking in my life … but those things really don’t matter. I ran into several familiar faces who I haven’t heard from in ages due to my own selfishness or conflicting schedules. [Sidenote: I gotta do a better job of staying in contact with people …] To have the opporunity to see Men of Color enjoying themselves was a good feeling. There was something there for everyone: Dark skin brothas, Light skin brothas, those with locks, fades, bald heads, twist, cornrows, naturals, curly tops, skinny, chubby, young, old, and the list could go on and on … Besides some of the craziest outfits I’ve seen in ages – The event was eventful.
